WHAT'S HOT

Ceramics from Scandinavia are very 'hot' at the moment with international collectors, Stig Lindberg and Gunnar Nylund prices are going through the roof. One of the most prolific factories in the 50s and 60s was Upsala-Ekeby (Sweden) and savvy collectors are snapping up any pieces that appear on the market. A particular favourite is Mari Simmulson (1911-2000) and this hand painted fully signed piece from 1954 is a real find. Look out for pieces by other UE designers such as Ingrid Atterberg, Vicke Lindstrand and Hjordis Oldfors. For a full list of pieces available email info@kirkmodern.com

Simple yet elegant construction of anodised metal frame with bent ply seat and back, it is industrial design at it's functional best - and surprisingly comfortable! See it tomorrow (Sunday 24th) at the Dublin Flea, Newmarket Square. http://dublinflea.blogspot.com/

HIT & MISS

Original prints from the 1950s and 60s in their original frames are getting harder and harder to find. Anyone who likes the look should investigate the work of L.Shabner and JH Lynch as the prices haven't reached their peak yet. Undoubtedly the most sought after is the work of V. Tretchikoff and this original 1965 print of Miss Wong in the original frame has just arrived. POA info@kirkmodern.com
