CZECH MATES

A beautiful neat secretaire form the 1950s. Finished in teak with 3 drawers to the side and slim drawer under the worktop - this is small but perfectly formed for a tight space. This elegant G Plan Fresco desk/dressing table has just arrived in stock. G Plan's design consultant, Victor Wilkins, described the Fresco range as "...new look sculpted modern furniture. TALL & SLIM

We have been sourcing some modular Ladderax shelving units for a client and came across this fantastic contemporary piece by Avalon. This single span unit has elegant clean lines, tall and slim with lots of storage and display space - perfect for a tight space, and alcove or home office. As with Ladderax, the units are positionable at any height and can be used in any combination. The bottom cabinet has teak sliding doors, the top unit has an internal shelf and glass sliding panels. A nice original pair of vintage bedside lockers have just arrived in stock. EARLY PLAN

We have just taken delivery of this very rare, early E Gomme sideboard. This handsome piece was made in 1951, the year of Festival of Britain, and was one of the first modernist pieces by E Gomme, who soon after changed their name to G Plan. A beautifully proportioned compact piece with great styling and detail. Two cupboards with internal shelf and topped by two drawers, 124cms long x 86cms high x 46cms deep. Nice detailed streamlined strips to the front, elongated handles and fantastic atomic splayed legs - original vintage pieces of this quality rarely surface in Ireland. HOUSEMASTER

G Plan "Housemaster" Danish design chair circa 1969 now available. This is an original vintage chair and a highly sought after mid century statement piece -the pinnacle of design in the G Plan range. Designed by Ib Kofod Larsen for G Plan, the chair is made in solid bent teak wrapped in chrome banding to the back. The chair rotates a full 360 degrees and is on a central sprung chromed leaf spring, solid teak base with easy glide casters. Finished in original rich chocolate brown velvet, but easily recovered as all the seatpads are removable.This is a deluxe chair, supremely comfortable, low and wide and with real MadMen styling that commands a room. DESIGN CLASSIC

The BA 3 is one of the earliest chairs designed by the prominent post-war designer Ernest Race, who designed chairs for the 1951 Festival of Britain. The BA 3 was unveiled at the 1946 V&A 'Britain Can Make It' exhibition that was intended to boost the public's post-war morale. The BA 3 chair was part of a range of innovative furniture made from cast aluminium, one of the few materials freely available at a time when rationing was still in place and more traditional materials were in short supply. Ernest Race was one of Britain’s most successful and inventive furniture designers, and his BA3 chair will form part of the newly opened permanent exhibition space for furniture in the V&A Museum, London.

MASTER PLAN

We have just sourced this original vintage plan chest from the 1950s. These pieces are very 'hot' at the moment with collectors as they combine function and style and give an instant industrial edge with the warmth of aged wood. This chest has 6 A1 sized solid wooden drawers, which makes it easier to accommodate into a room design (rather than the AO versions that are typically found in architects). Lovely oak example with wooden handles and brass label inserts. SHORT ORDER

Small is beautiful.... I am always getting asked to source small sideboards, and they are hard to find as the style in 50s and 60s was for larger units - some Danish examples can be 3 metres long! So it was great to discover this pocket size teak sideboard at a neat 122cms long. A really nice unit with two recessed cupboards and three drawers, this one will fit into the tightest mid century interior and still give loads of space. For those who like the slick mid century modern Hans Olsen dining set but not the price tag, here is a great alternative. This set is by McIntosh and is all original 1960s piece which references the best of Danish design. Extending teak table with four matching padded chairs - and just like the Hans Olsen set, the chairs fit neatly into the 'skirt' of the table (rather like wedges of a pie) - neat!
